Thursday 27 November: Swimming and Nautical Skills exercises at German School swimming pool and Volley Ball in sports hall next door to swimming pool from 19.00 to 20.00

PLs and APLs only are welcome to help with the swimming session for Beavers 18.00 to 19.00

Dear Parents and Scouts

We are very privileged to be able to use the German School sports facilities. What we need now is one or two parents who know the rules of volley ball to act as referees. We have never taken part in the District Volley Ball competition because we could never raise a team that knew how to play the game. The intention is to have half an hour volley ball and half an hour swimming for all Scouts unless they choose just to do the one activity. During the swimming we would like to choose team members for the HMS Raleigh, Plymouth team for the end of January. We would also much appreciate extra adult help at the pool. Would you please let it be know in what capacity you could offer help.

Our main activity during the summer months is boating: on Friday evenings we arrive promptly at 18h00 for Scouts in our full uniform, then get dressed for boating on the Thames. After some fun on the river we go home at 21h00. We are still going boating in September - weather permitting.

On 4 April we helped to plant the hedgerow for Ham Avenue. We’ll help with more planting in the autumn, this time some holly.

Troop meetings are on Fridays from 18h00 until 20h00 in Douglas House Meadow, our scout field. The age range for Scouts is from 10 1/2 to 14 1/2.

In addition to the weekly meetings, mainly during termtime, we also have special events and boating activities during weekends. During the winter months we do boat maintenance.

Parents are welcome to join in, especially with the boating activities.
