Congratulations to all those that did this - you all passed, though it was a shame there were so many who needed Monday to recuperate! Please feel free to correct the table below if you feel it is inaccurate:
The practice bronze expedition will be held on the South Downs on Saturday 7th - Sunday 8th of October 2006, with a little help from our Friends at 1st Streatham.
We are working on the assumption that we will have either 8 Bronze candidates split into 2 groups of 4, or 6 in one group. The Silver and Gold candidates are free to come along and join in with the silver group from 1st Streatham, but the qualifying period for silver is 3 days so this will have to be considered preparation for the practice. The ‘permission to camp and health’ form MUST be filled in and returned by Friday 6th October at the latest. To keep the costs as low as possible, we will cover the cost of the campsite within the group, but are charging £25 per person to cover minibus hire, fuel, purchase of maps and sample foods used during the training evenings. The Home Contact will be Karin on 020 8940 1427 and you can contact James during the expedition on 0791 440 2927. The campsite is 01273492752. Explorers should bring packed rucksacks on Friday 6th October at 8:00pm, and during the course of the evening we will go through the kit list and check for any glaring errors, omissions or additions. We aim to leave the scout hut at 9:00am on Saturday morning for onward delivery to the start of the hike at Partridge Green, West Grinstead. We expect to be back at the scout hut by 7:00pm, M25 Willing. We will advise Karin, the home contact, of our likely arrival time on Sunday afternoon. Note that we will not be providing any food during the weekend; this is part of your planning and self reliance – you will be planning your group menu (with a little help if necessary) to provide you with enough energy to get through the weekend, then you must buy it and bring it in with your kit on Friday, and carry it themselves while you hike!
